A Look at USA Today as a Daily PeriodicalOffering Original Perspective USA Today Sets Itself Apart
Though flashy in its appearance, USA Today has a lot to offer in regards to entertaining articles and colorful pictures.
USA Today is one of those newspapers that has a lot of critics, simply because it doesn't attack hard issues, and go in-depth about many things involving politics. If you want a periodical that is going to be full of articles about elections, wars that are going on, or other items like that, then you are better suited with something like the New York Times. There you will find your grit, whereas with USA Today, you will most likely just find articles that scratch the surface of said topics. USA Today, instead focuses on articles that will appeal to the pop culture fans, and gives the readers what they want to see. That is what makes it a fun periodical to read. USA Today as a Periodical USA Today is a morning newspaper, which comes out Monday through Friday, with the Friday issue being their "Weekend Edition." It is comprised of 4 main sections that are the main section, Money, Life, and Sports. Within those sections are smaller parts that cover Technology and Weather. One of their big advertising schemes, is using bold colors to highlight the sections, and by using colors that stand out on the front of the first page, and back of the last page. Combining the vivid coloring with the flashy headlines gets people to pick up a copy of the newspaper, and is what helps to create even more sales. You can normally find USA Today at newsstands, coffee stands, and even inside McDonald's restaurants. Pretty much anywhere you want to read a newspaper you can pick up a copy. USA Today Strives for Variety The main selling point of USA Today, is that it covers such a wide variety of topics each day. That way people can pick up a copy and learn a little about a lot of different topics. Some of the most interesting articles are the television ratings that are posted every Wednesday, the team statistics that you can find in the sports section, and the entertainment topics that are covered in the money section. Most of the articles are quick and to the point, giving fun facts about nearly every aspect of something, but leaving out a lot of the opinions of the writers. Depending on what you are looking for in your newspaper, that could be a good or a bad thing. There are a lot of fluff pieces that can bring a smile to the readers face though, and at times that is exactly what is needed with all of the bad news out there. The Number One Newspaper in AmericaUSA Today claims that it is No.1 in the USA, and it gets that title, because it is one of the few that can be delivered anywhere. With distribution sites across the United States, it is most likely you have one close enough to you that they will deliver. Issues sell for 75 cents per day, or you can get subscriptions that range from 52 weeks for $190, 26 weeks for $99, or 13 weeks for $52. That saves you a little bit more than if you bought it daily, but can seem a little expensive with numbers like that as well. For a newspaper that focuses on the entertainment aspect of everything in this culture, and does a great job of keeping up with everything "poppy" this is a great news source. You aren't going to get those hard hitting stories, but you are going to learn a few things, and you will have fun doing it.
